Hand-powered cutters slice through pipe, tubing, or conduit to cut a length for installation or remove damaged sections when making repairs. They make cleaner cuts than saws, leaving smoother edges that require less deburring. Getting an optimal cut requires matching a cutter to the form (pipe, tubing, or conduit) and type (plastic, metal, clay, etc.) of material being cut. Pipe is measured by its nominal inside diameter and typically has thicker walls than tubing and conduit. Tubing and conduit are sized by their outside diameter and typically have thinner walls than pipe.
