Carbon steel taps are used for repairing threads and occasionally creating new threads in maintenance operations. Also called hand taps, carbon steel straight-flute taps are turned with a tap wrench to create or repair internal threads in blind holes and through holes. As the taps are rotated into a hole to create threads, the chips move into the flutes but are not evacuated.
This tap is made of carbon steel and has a 3.58mm diameter shank. It meets the standards for USCTI. This Metric Thread Tap series tap has a bright (uncoated) finish, and has metric measurements. It has right hand direction with a 49 mm length. Plus it has three flutes and a straight shank.
